Thanks to I learned that today is National Gumdrop Day. I know someone who used to love gumdrops and must have had an “in” with the Easter Bunny because they always made it into our Easter baskets. And if we were lucky, sometimes there’d be a little bowl of them on the counter or an open bag “hidden” in the cookie jar. I hope Mumsie reads my blog today because I bet you can eat all the gumdrops you want in heaven and not gain a pound!


I really don’t have a preference as to who wins the Super Bowl, but I did use today’s game as an excuse to make myself Pigs in a Blanket. I kept seeing them referenced as perfect “football” food and then I couldn’t get them out of my mind. I used Pillsbury’s refrigerated Biscuit dough, skinny hot dogs, and Kraft Singles. My word these are good…and not really heart smart so let’s keep this indulgence between you and me.

Oh look, the game has started…I hope your team wins!

I’ve had a hankering for meatballs lately and decided that I should just make a batch myself. Ideally these were going to be made on a cold, foggy SF day and enjoyed while huddled in my apartment craving comfort food, BUT this unseasonably warm weather put a wrench in that plan. Not that I’m complaining…these clear, blue sky days are pretty nice. Anyhow, I found a super (and I mean super) easy recipe on I also decided to splurge on ground beef from Marin Sun Farms. Since I don’t eat beef that often I figured I might as well support a local farm and know exactly what went into my meat. (Oh, if you go to their “about us” page the owner is pretty cute too…just sayin’). The recipe is rather bland so I added some Slim Spice Seasoning which I’ve never used before so we’ll see how that goes. (I got a free sample from work so thought I’d give it a try).

They just came out of the oven and I already ate one…pretty darn good if I do say so myself!
