I knew it. Not dead. Chinese. AND in SF!

Happy Weekend, everyone! What a loooooong week. Work is for the birds. Really wish I’d picked up a few MEGA Millions tickets so I’d at least have a chance at winning $312,000,000!!!! Pretty sure I could figure out how to spend a bit of that…

I picked up some daffodils on my way home to brighten up my mood. It worked!

It’s World Naked Bike Ride Day in SF. Of course it is. Apparently, it’s a protest against our dependency on oil. Blah, blah, blah…

While the critical mass fruit loops are polluting unsuspecting eyeballs, I’ll be filling my car with gas and driving to Napa to meet friends for lunch. Yay for me! And now I’m even more excited to get out-of-town so my eyes won’t be subjected to the most obnoxious (and likely the most unattractive) people baring all.

Go bare if you dare…
Saturday, 3/12, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Justin Herman Plaza, Embarcadero at Market St.

I heard news of the Japan earthquake late last night. Such devastation and, of course, my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected.

It’s very weird to have a tsunami warning in San Francisco. Living on the coast I know this is a possibility, but in my 11 years of living here I don’t recall an actual serious warning. There probably was one after Indonesia’s quake in 2004, right? I must have missed that one. Frankly, I’m more concerned about earthquakes and that concern wouldn’t rank on any meter because, well, what can ya do? Except be a bit prepared!

Selfishly, I was really hoping work would be canceled so I could stay home and watch the news. I find natural disasters fascinating (much more so when I’m not directly effected). Unfortunately, my work (located near Aquatic Park where I can practically dip my toe in the bay from my desk) didn’t fear me being swept away. Harumph.

Anyhow, at this point SF seems to be clear of tsunamis…stay tuned for a post on earthquake preparedness!

Here’s a glimpse at this mornings tsunami forecast…

Well, I’ve done it. I’ve gone and given up wine for Lent. I sure enjoy wine…especially after a long day at work…sigh

I also decided that I don’t think Jesus will mind me multi-tasking. Aside from being a great sacrifice (sigh again), I’m hoping that shelving wine for more than a month will also curb my weakness for cheese & french bread. Basically, when all is said and done I expect to greet Easter looking like this…

How does this day sneak up on me every year? Not Fat Tuesday per se, but the day before the beginning of Lent! Now I have ONE day to figure out what to give up for 46 days (March 9th-April 23rd)…something with which I’ve never had much success. I didn’t even plan a “last hurrah” and at this point don’t think I can fit in ice cream, gummy bears, candy corn, hamburgers, onion rings, chinese food, wine, raw cookie dough…you know, all those sinfully delicious/bad for me things, in just one day. As a matter of fact, I think I’d find myself in the hospital if I tried! Harumph. I’ll give this a lot of thought today and let you know what I come up with…

So, I’ve been out of my favorite body scrub for almost TWO weeks and haven’t been able to get to Bath & Body Works to restock. Finally, I decided to just buy it online. I ALWAYS forget about coupon codes when buying online, but for some reason I remembered to check today. You just type into your preferred search engine (I prefer Google, but I know a few people who prefer to “Yahoo it”) “Coupon Code company of your choice“.

Well, whoooohooo…I found a coupon for $1 shipping! Basically, it ended up being cheaper ordering online than taking the bus ($2) downtown! It was also a lot less stressful than dealing with the tweeny-boppers working at the downtown store…an.noy.ing.
