Tomorrow is Ben & Jerry’s annual free cone day! I’ll be in line at the location on Jefferson Street in SF which is just a hop scoop from work. Can I hear a whoop whoop for a scoop scoop?

March 23rd!!!

On my way to grab lunch yesterday I was nearly blinded by this man’s blue suit (a Zoot suit?) and case of necklaces he was peddling on the corner of Polk @ Washington. Although I admire his gusto (or whatever it takes to wear something like that), I’m not sure how successful he was with his business venture. By the time I’d gone one block further, picked up a burrito, and walked back he was nowhere in sight. I admit, I don’t know the ins and outs of street peddling, but common sense would suggest if you’re going to do something illegal subtly is key.

Took this pic February 28th with grand plans to post it and then plumb forgot!

This row of trees first caught my eye Friday, 2/26,  on my way to Napa. The next day on an unexpected trip to Novato’s “dollhouse” store with Dad, #1 & kids, we passed them twice (to and fro), but I didn’t have my camera. Grrr. My final pass was Sunday, 2/28, heading back to SF when I finally pulled over and took a pic. So glad I did because they still make me smile.

My mom put together a list of her favorite songs before she passed away. This was one of her songs…I think this version is so beautiful. A friend posted this link on Facebook and without knowing what it was I clicked on the link. I cried the whole way home (on the bus). I guess I was the nutty lady on the bus today.

Also, this was the song playing when #4 called me a couple of weeks ago. First time I’d ever heard “Over the Rainbow” while out and about. Hi Mom!

About 2 weeks ago I was packing up my car getting ready to head back to SF after a weekend in Napa. As I was getting ready Dad reminded me to pick some oranges off the tree. Well, we picked nearly a dozen and I was thinking: “Self, that’s a lot of oranges for someone who doesn’t like to peel oranges”, but I couldn’t resist. I really do appreciate anything homegrown since I have ZERO outdoor space of my own. So, there I was, standing in the kitchen with my bag of oranges when Dad asked the question I’m sure he’ll regret…”Do you want to borrow the juicer?” My mind quickly did the math: oranges + juicer = fresh orange juice for free! YIPPEEEEEEE. I grabbed the juicer like it was nobody’s business and high-tailed it out of there before he changed his mind.

And look what I had with my breakfast the next morning. Dad might need to buy himself a new juicer. I’ll be sure to let him know he can find one just like his old one on Ebay for $19.99. It’s considered “Vintage” now! And I’ll be loading up double-double on oranges this weekend. Certainly wouldn’t want any going to waste!

Ok, I was going to write about my amazing 12 mile training walk, but I think I’ll save that for tomorrow when I’m bedridden.

I can’t resist doing a post about the Candystriper tranny (aka CT)! I see “her” on the streets periodically, but tonight we were both at the same grocery store. I fully admit the clientele at this grocer isn’t stellar, but its only 1 block from my apartment so convenience wins over clientele. Oh, and the homeless man sitting out front always says “Hi Beautiful, do you have any change”? He calls me beautiful. So nice!

Anyhow, I’ve spied CT a few times while walking to breakfast and it’s always an eyeful of confusion. From a block away you’re like…wow, you’re so petite and what a darling uniform! And then 5 feet away you start to scrunch up your face and your eyes roll around in your head while trying to make sense of it all. Finally you deduce…oh my…sir…um…I don’t think that’s appropriate make-up OR stockings for breakfast time.

The times I’ve seen her she wears similar clothes as in the photos below, but her stockings are usually red and white striped and typically paired with bright red 4″ heels (hence her nickname). I guess this is CT’s day off!

The most disturbing part about this whole thing is that when I see CT I can’t help but think of Truly Scrumptious disguised as a life-size doll in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Similar make-up and the outfits aren’t that far off either…
